Why Smudge-Free?

Image Why Smudge-Free? “We simply use the highest quality products on the market with tried and tested techniques”. Our training is also on a one-to one basis giving you maximum hands on experience and 100% dedication from tutor to student.

Smudge-Free use the most sophisticated up to date equipment and products that have been developed by the world’s leading manufacturers in Germany and Europe. The latest development which is exclusive to Smudge-Free is the Paramedical Hand-piece ll. It is a microprocessor controlled hand-piece that senses variations in skin tissue density, thus adjusting itself to ensure an even implantation of the pigment. No other digital machine can match the specification or the power of the Derma Medical Liner.

We are very proud of our training programmes which are carried out on a one-to-one basis unless specified. Our knowledge and understanding of the industry is second to none and we are regular contributors with articles, facts and write-ups for the major industry publications. Our techniques which have been developed by one of the country’s leading experts have been tried and tested to deliver outstanding results.

The results of our techniques can be seen throughout our website where all the work to be seen was carried out by Andrew stassi and by his technicians during their training with Smudge-Free. Andrew‘s work is highly acclaimed internationally and often used in industry publications to create awareness in new technique development. Andrew holds two training licences as well as distribution rights from two of the worlds leading manufacturers of products and equipment for the Semi-permanent Cosmetics industry because they were so impressed with his standard of work and knowledge of the industry. This means that as soon as new equipment and products are introduced we are the first to take them on board. Andrew is often asked to fly over to keep them up-dated with his latest techniques and developments which they then pass on to others.

Image You need the best so research your school carefully

Choosing the right educator to train you is the biggest investment you will ever make. If it’s the wrong decision, as it so often is due to lack of research, it can prove to be very costly and may even shatter your confidence when really, all you needed, was a good educator right from the start. Check to see that they are using the latest digitally controlled machines and that their pigments all carry a hygiene and toxicology certificate. This denotes the contaminants in ppm (parts per million) and is crucial so as to keep allergic reactions due to pigments to an absolute minimum. Ask to see their recent certificates and check that they are up to date. If not, they will not have mastered the latest developments in the industry and therefore cannot possibly pass them on to you.

Although Semi-permanent Cosmetics have been around in the U.K. for a good 20 years or so, the products, techniques and machines in particular, were very crude and the final results did not look natural at all. Eyebrows especially looked as though they were drawn on with a black marker pen, mimicking the look of a clown as opposed to natural eyebrows. The needles were too aggressive and of a high gauge, which consequently caused unnecessary trauma and bleeding. This led to large scabs and many re-touches because of pigment loss due to heavy crusting in the healing process. Surprisingly, some schools and practitioners of today still use the old, inferior and rather primitive machines and are not up to date with their techniques or their education. Micropigmentation is fast becoming the make-up treatment of the future, but what our industry requires are competent and well educated technicians to provide the service that the public-demand needs. So if Micropigmentation is the career for you, then Smudge-Free can help you achieve your ambition.

Andrew Stassi of Smudge-Free has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience and has trained with the highest accredited educators, pioneers and manufacturers in the field and has been awarded an array of qualifications. He currently holds training licences and distribution rights from two of the world’s most respected equipment and product manufacturers because they were so impressed with the high standard of his work and his in-depth knowledge in the Semi-permanent Cosmetics field. His work speaks volumes and can be seen on the Smudge-Free website and also in his portfolio. Most companies sell ready-made portfolios to their students by way of marketing and even use pictures that don’t belong to them. That is simply stealing! Beware of these and steer well away. During the Smudge-Free training course we will help you compile a professional portfolio since will be very much required so your prospective clients can view your before and after images. Your portfolio will be a very strong marketing tool when you approach salons for work.

Anyone who offers you a three-day training course should be avoided too as it is not for everyone. It’s impossible to learn all this consecutively. One in a million have the nettle to grasp so much in a short space of time and anyone who offers you an online training course should be avoided like the plague. You simply cannot learn semi-permanent cosmetics online since it really is a hands-on instructed course! It’s like having lessons in a car simulator then being told to go and drive on the road.

Smudge-Free training courses run over a four-day period which are broken down into modules so you get a feel for the techniques and complete your case study for each module in between. We feel that too much too quickly is overwhelming as you need time to grasp certain aspects of the course. We do not put our students under pressure but we do encourage you to put the practice hours in as results will only happen when maximum effort is applied. In the unlikely event you should encounter problems after the course and your treatments leading up to your assessment, you are free to come back for more guidance at no extra charge. There is a lot to learn and there is also a lot of home study which you need to learn in between classes. All course requirements can be tailored to suit the individual and this applies mainly for advanced courses.

Image What attributes are required in order to become a good and successful technician?

There are certain attributes which make for a good technician so anyone wishing to pursue a career in Semi-permanent Cosmetics should ideally have a natural artistic flare and a critical eye for detail as this is about creativity and not about being a beautician. A professional manner with a responsible attitude and assertiveness are qualities which will enhance your ability to succeed. Having a good understanding of the skin structure, skin tones and the morphology of the face is very helpful, as is a high level and awareness of hygiene and sanitation, but all this you will learn throughout the course. These are invasive procedures so everything around us must be of good hygiene and all instruments used must be sanitised before and after use. Good eyesight is a must and so is having a very steady hand. The ability to interact with people and lending a sympathetic ear and a good attitude towards them will help greatly in reassuring them throughout their treatment.
