Known as Stria with a whitish silvery appearance, these marks are thin areas of skin which have appeared due to the break-down of collagen and elastin fibres in the dermis.

This is mainly caused by increased stretching over a short period of time, such as pregnancy, drastic weight gain and even weight loss. Evident after child birth or dramatic weight loss, this can have severe psychological effects for many of its sufferers.

Although Stria is a condition which affects mostly women, it can also affect some men too. These marks can be greatly reduced with strategically targeted skin treatments and Smudge-Free use their own methods and techniques in order to encourage the skin to reproduce more collagen and elastin fibres in those specific regions. Our treatment can also change the slivery whitish marks to a more complementing tone to match the surrounding skin by encouraging melanin production as well as collagen.

The treatment is not recommended for people who suffer with keloid scarring or those who suffer with hyperpigmentation as this will encourage more melanin production during the treatment, thus resulting in darker patches.

MCA, known as Multi-Trepanic Collagen Actuation (semi-permanent make-up technique used to stimulate collagen production and melanin in the dermis) can have some good effect on these areas and the use of skin-tone pigments can camouflage them to a degree.

If one chooses to have camouflage work carried out over the stretch marks it is important to know that when tanning these areas will hardly change by comparison to the untreated areas. For this reason it is important to keep one’s skin as close to its original tone as possible.

This would mean avoiding long sessions in the sun and artificial tanning aids, excluding spray tans as this sits on the skin’s surface and could actually help by camouflaging the area and so balance the skin tone.

These two sets of images are of two different clients who came to Andrew Stassi to see how he could help them.

The first Client had four sessions in order to achieve the desired results and the second client had three sessions to achieve the desired results. Results will vary from client to client and this is reliant on many factors such as age of the person, condition of the skin, diet, natural healing capabilities and so on. The treatment area is numbed first with a topical anaesthetic cream for 30 minutes. The treatment takes about an hour including anaesthetic time and the treatment has been compared to a rough handed tickle rather than painful.

In both cases the clients were vary happy with their results and although were offered another session each, they were happy with the results which can be seen in the images.
